In breve
Ciotto è distribuito sotto GNU GPL versione 3.
2. Come chiederlo

The source code of Ciotto
Written offer under the GNU General Public License, version 3
This page exists because the licence of Ciotto guarantees it, not as a courtesy. It describes how to exercise a right you already have; it does not replace the text of the licence, which remains the only binding reference.
In short
Ciotto is distributed under the GNU GPL version 3. If you received a copy of the program — a Windows installer, a DMG, an AppImage, a deb package, an APK — you are entitled to the source code corresponding to that exact copy. Write to maurocomendulli@gmail.com and we will send it to you.
1. What you can ask for
The complete source of the version you installed: all the code of the program, the project files and scripts needed to generate, install and run the executable, and the instructions to rebuild it. Not a similar version, not the newest one — yours.
2. How to ask
Send a message to maurocomendulli@gmail.com naming two things, both shown on the download page and in the release history: the version number and the source commit of the build you installed. Every release shows the exact commit its binaries were built from, and that is what it is for: identifying without ambiguity which source is yours.
Delivery is free of charge. If you ask for the source on a physical medium we may ask for no more than the material cost of shipping it, as the licence permits.
3. How long this offer lasts
This offer is valid to anyone who received a copy of the program, for at least three years from the date that copy was distributed, and in any case for as long as we offer support for that version.
4. Why the repository is not public
The GPL does not require publishing the code to the world: it requires giving it to whoever receives the program. Ciotto is in private testing today, and its repository is private — but that takes nothing away from anyone holding a copy. If you have the program, you are entitled to its source, and this page is how you get it.
5. The licence
Ciotto is free software: you can redistribute it and modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License version 3, as published by the Free Software Foundation. The program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but without any warranty, without even the implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The full text of the licence is at gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.html.
